Circus Acro Intermediate picks up where Basics leaves off, guiding students ages 7–10 through Levels 2–3 of Perhosvoltti's level card system. The focus shifts from foundational skills to more complex acrobatic combinations, with emphasis on precision, control, proper technique, and the beginnings of performance-quality execution.
Students progress into roundoffs, back walkovers, front walkovers, aerial foundations, back handspring preparation, and introductory partner acrobatics. Circus props work, and conditioning becomes more targeted as students develop the strength and flexibility required for advanced movement.
The level card system continues to guide each student's individual journey. Progression through Levels 2–3 is paced to each child's readiness — students may be recommended to revisit Basics-level skills if prerequisite techniques are not yet safely demonstrated. This individual pacing ensures mastery before advancement, keeping training both challenging and safe.
Roundoffs — Building on the cartwheel foundation to develop powerful, controlled roundoff technique as a gateway to tumbling combinations.
Back and front walkovers — Fluid, controlled walkovers that combine flexibility, strength, and spatial awareness into elegant acrobatic movement.
Back handspring preparation — Progressive drills and conditioning that build toward one of acrobatics' most exciting milestones.
Partner acrobatics introduction — Learning to work with another person, developing trust, communication, and cooperative movement skills.
Sequence work and skill combinations — Connecting individual skills into fluid sequences, moving from isolated techniques toward performance-quality execution.
Advanced flexibility and conditioning — Deeper stretching work and targeted strength training that support the increased physical demands of intermediate-level acrobatics.
Precision, control, and technique — At this stage, how a skill is performed matters as much as whether it can be performed. Students refine execution quality across all movements.
Students must demonstrate the following skills, typically through completion of the Acro Basics level card or teacher assessment:
Minimum one semester of Acro Basics or teacher approval based on skills assessment is required. Students who have not yet safely demonstrated prerequisite skills may be recommended to continue building foundations in Basics before advancing.
