What to expect

Where little bodies learn big skills

Toddler Circus transforms the boundless energy of 2-3-year-olds into purposeful movement! With active parent participation, toddlers discover circus arts through play-based learning that builds physical skills, confidence, and social awareness.

How toddlers learn

At this age, children learn through play, repetition, and imitation. Our 45-minute sessions use these natural learning methods to introduce circus skills through mini motor circuits, guided activities, and colourful circus props. Toddlers develop balance, coordination, and body control — navigating obstacle courses, exploring low beams and soft blocks, and working with scarves, balls, and hoops — all while having fun.

Why parent participation matters

For toddlers, active parent participation — not just observation — is crucial. Your presence provides security, your encouragement reinforces learning, and together you'll deepen your bond through shared physical challenges, partner games, and gentle lifts. You'll also learn activities you can continue at home.

Building independence

While parents participate fully in every class, we also gently prepare toddlers for eventually independent classes. Through routine building, following group instructions, and turn-taking, children develop the social skills they'll need for future classes without parents.

Skills learned

Developmental milestones

Gross motor skills — jumping, balancing, climbing, sliding, and rolling through carefully designed circus circuits that build physical confidence

Body awareness and spatial understanding — navigating forward, backward, and through obstacle courses, developing an intuitive sense of their body in space

Coordination and rhythm — clapping, coordinated steps, and following cues that connect movement to creativity

Hand-eye coordination — throwing and catching with scarves and balls, learning to control objects in space through playful circus prop work

Following simple instructions in a group setting

Turn-taking and sharing equipment with peers

Confidence in trying new physical challenges

Introduction to circus equipment — scarves, balls, hoops

Balance and core strength foundations — walking along low beams, stepping over soft blocks, and exploring controlled instability in safe, supported ways

Parent-child cooperation through shared physical activities

A positive relationship with movement and exercise

Prerequisites

No previous experience required.

Perfect for toddlers who:

  • Are 2-3 years old
  • Walk confidently and independently
  • Understand and follow simple instructions
  • Enjoy active play and movement
  • Feel comfortable in a group with parent present

One parent or caregiver must participate fully throughout the class. The class accommodates the wide developmental range between 2 and 3 years, with activities adapted so each child is appropriately challenged. If your child is on the younger side and you're unsure whether Baby Circus or Toddler Circus is the better fit, get in touch and we'll help you decide.

Please give your child your full attention. We ask that you do not use your phone during class. You are welcome to take photos of your own child.

What to bring: Comfortable, fitted clothing (no loose pants to trip on), water bottle, and a patient attitude — toddlers have short attention spans!

Note: Class size limited to 12 parent-toddler pairs for safety and individual attention.
