What to expect

Acrobatics for adults who crave a challenge

Adult Beginner-Intermediate Acrobatics is not your ordinary fitness class. This 90-minute session is designed for adults (16+) who want to push their physical limits, master impressive skills, and experience the unique combination of strength, flexibility, and artistry that acrobatics demands.

Who this class is for

If you come from yoga, CrossFit, gymnastics, dance, or martial arts and are looking for a new physical challenge, this class is your next step. We welcome adults with movement experience who are ready to learn handstands, various acrobatic skills, and partner acrobatics — all in a supportive adult environment. Training is designed specifically for adult bodies, which means extended warm-ups, intelligent progressions that respect prior injuries and varying flexibility levels, and modifications built into every session so you can push your limits safely.

Beyond basic fitness

This class is for active movers who already have a fitness background. We move at a brisk pace and assume participants have basic body control and reasonable physical fitness. We practice skills that require commitment and consistent training to achieve mastery — this is about sustainable practice over ego-driven pushing.

The adult advantage

Adults learn faster because they can focus purposefully and understand what they're doing. Where children learn through play, adults can track their own progression, analyse technique, and train with intention. We leverage these strengths while developing the physical strength and mobility that the skills require.

Class structure

The 90-minute format allows for a proper warm-up, stretching, intensive acrobatics and body control training, and strength and conditioning work. Every session balances challenge with care, and personal goal achievement with injury prevention.

Skills learned

This class is built around progressing experienced movers into genuine acrobatic skills while training in a way that's sustainable for adult bodies.

Handstand development — building control, endurance, alignment, walking, and the confidence to explore freestanding balance and shape variations

Back bends and bridge progressions — working toward deeper backbends, stand-up-from-bridge, and walkover preparation with emphasis on thoracic mobility and shoulder opening

Acrobatics theory and the art of succeeding — understanding technique, progressive drills building toward roundoffs, walkovers, and more advanced combinations

Partner acrobatics foundations — hand-to-hand balances, supported inversions, and collaborative movement that builds trust and body awareness

Acrobatics-specific strength training — targeted conditioning for wrist strength, shoulder stability, core control, and pressing power

Fear management and mental skills — learning to embrace challenge, manage nerves, and build inverted confidence

Body awareness and injury prevention — refining proprioception, learning to warm up properly, recognise limits, and train around existing limitations rather than through them

Prerequisites

This class requires existing physical fitness and body awareness.

Ideal students have:

  • A regular fitness practice (yoga, CrossFit, dance, martial arts, or similar)
  • Comfort being upside down and trying challenging skills — even if that's just a wall-supported handstand
  • The ability to support their own body weight
  • Willingness to work hard and potentially fail during the learning process
  • No serious injuries or physical limitations

Modifications are provided for different fitness levels, and the extended warm-up is designed to accommodate bodies that need more preparation than a teenager's.

Not sure if you're ready? Book a trial class (€25) to experience the level and get instructor feedback.

Note: This is an active, athletic class. If you're new to exercise, consider starting with private lessons.
